Time flies...with the speed of blinking eyes. We are heading towards the very end of 2009. it is quite a smooth year for me...i managed to do most of the things listed on my 2009 new year resolution..Thank God for guiding me and my love ones throughout the year..For HE is amazing!! Looking forward to 2010 and hope it will be another great year for me and my love ones..

Here is my 2010 new year resolution:
1. Graduating from the law school with at least second class 1st division honour
2. spend lesser..(haha)
3. Read 5 books ( non-law )
4. learn to be a even better christian,son,brother,friend
5. stay true and cool
6. serve God more
7. polish my piano's skills
8. take up some jobs during summer for gaining experiences

Thats all....once again...Thank God for such a wonderful year..May all of us grow and prosper in the love of God in the coming year. Happy 2010 to all^^

冬至，岁末

这是我在英国的第二个冬至。。
虽然还是一个人过，但也习惯了
收到远方亲友祝福，一个人吃着汤圆，其实也挺惬意的。。
想跟大伙分享冬至的由来

冬至就是二十四個冬節就是冬至，時間在陽曆十二月二十二日或二十三日。依照我國傳統的曆法，以五日為一候，三候為一氣，一年又分為十二節和十二氣，合稱為二十四節氣，而節氣中的一個。因為它的日子並沒有固定，所以和清明一樣，被稱為「活節」。在冬至這一天，對於位於北半球的我們，這時太陽剛好直射在南回歸線(又稱為冬至線)上，因此使得北半球的白天最短，黑夜最長。冬至過後，太陽又慢慢地向北回歸線轉移，北半球的白晝又慢慢加長，而夜晚漸漸縮短，正因為如此，冬至便成為曆法上重要的節氣之一。更由於古人對於這種自然現象的變化規律有著深刻的認識，所以有「冬至一陽生」的說法，意思是說從冬至開始，陽氣就要回升了。

在古代，冬節曾是一個隆重的日子，在周朝，就有利用「冬至」日郊祀祭天的記載，又因為周曆的正月是夏曆的十一月，因此，周代拜歲和賀冬並沒有分別，一直到漢武帝採用夏曆後，才把元旦和冬至分開，因此，也可以說：過「冬節」是自漢代才有的。漢代甚至在冬至前後，從皇帝到百官都停止辦公，全部休假來慶賀這個日子呢！

「冬至」又稱為「至節」，因為它是「陰極之至」、是「陽氣始至」，也是「日行南至」的節日。又由於冬至過後，新年就在眼前了，所以又有「冬節大如年」的說法，意思是說冬至的禮俗和年節相差無幾。另外，冬至又有如「亞歲」、「如正(新正)」、「履長節」等的稱呼，民間則多稱為「冬節」。又由於富人都過著豐厚的冬至，而窮人則只能貧苦的過夜，於是又有「有者冬至夜，無者過一夜」、「富人吃一夜，窮人凍一夜」的俗諺。

民間又以冬至日到來之先後，及當天天氣的好壞，推測往後的天氣。俗語說：「冬至在月頭，要冷在年兜(底)；冬至在月尾，要冷在正月；冬至在月中，無雪也沒霜」(這是依據冬至日到來的早晚，推測寒流到臺灣的早晚)；俗語也說：「冬至黑，過年疏；冬至疏，過年黑」(意思是：冬至這天如果沒有太陽，那麼過年一定晴天，反之，如果冬至放晴，過年就會下雨)。

在冬至的應節食品方面，有許多有趣的傳統，甚至是各族的特色。例如：滿族旗人在冬至祭天祭祖之後，將祭拜過後的豬肉煮成白肉和親朋好友分享；在陜西地方，人們相信共工的兒子，在冬至這天去世，變成散播瘟疫的惡鬼，但疫鬼怕紅豆，因此在冬至這天，大家煮紅豆粥來避開瘟疫；南方人吃湯圓，北方人在冬至這天則有吃餛飩的習俗，有句俗諺說：「冬至餛飩夏至面」，另外在西北地方則多半吃餃子(餃子在明代之前稱為餛)，民間甚至有流傳「吃了冬節的餃子，不凍耳朵」的諺語(據說這種習俗是來自于醫聖張仲景施藥為窮人治凍傷的故事而來的)。

好久没进来写东西了。。
此时的英国已经步入深秋了。
在今天，英国时间将会延长一个小时。。
从某个角度来看，我将会多活一个小时。
在屋里，
我听着邓丽君的不了情，看着窗外落叶纷飞，细雨绵绵。。
慢慢地缅怀过去。。
从我有印象开始到今天，
所有开心的，伤心的，忧虑的，捣蛋的画面一一浮现在我脑海中。
所有的画面都那么深刻，可是却又很遥远。
时间真的很无情。。
它并不因为我们的脆弱而放缓脚步来等我们。。铁面无私啊。
随着秋天的到来，
树上的叶子开始枯萎凋零。。
紧接着将承受严寒的洗礼。
枯叶化作春泥，
滋养大树长出新的绿叶。。
新的生命又静悄悄地开始了。。
我们就没树那么幸运，

Apart from Christmas, chinese new year is my favourite festival since i was a kid. This year, i have to celebrate chinese new year in the UK....-.-..A few days ago, i have a small chat with my mum as usual. She told me that Sibu is now very crowded and u can see people and cars everywhere...( wheregot economic crisis?? )I can actually imagine the situation as i used to be in the crowd for the past twenty years.Like what Daniel said:" just yesterday, it was the previous chinese new year.." i totally agree with him...The 2008 cny is still fresh in my mind and now we are about to celebrate the 2009 cny..

Luckily, i still have some friends over here to celebrate cny with...cny without lanterns, fire crackers, fireworks...family and friends and the most important is..NO ANG PowS.................T.T..this is soooooo boring........Anyway...i hope everyone of u have a great, nice, happening and sweet chinese year...For those in Sibu.........., i am JEALOUS of u guys....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

went to Paris with friends Eric and Lea on 13th of Dec..My fisrt impression of Paris is not really good because the streets and the underground are quite dirty but these are all forgivable as Paris is more than beautiful...so romantic..so eyes catching..and so touching...Ja'dore Paris...:)

First of all, thank God for such a wonderful year...
i became an undergrat on 9th of Jan,
i celebrated my fifth birthday and my first big 2 on 29th of Feb,
i passed my first year law with 2.1 on 13th of Jul,
i witnessed the success of China in organising the greatest Olympic ever on 8th of Aug,
i came to the uk to pursue my studies on 27th of Sep
i lost my grandmother on 11th of Dec,
i paid a visit to Paris on 13th of Dec..
There are happy moments and of course sad moment,
Thank God for leading and guiding me throughout the year..
Thank God for my family and friends..They are the one who i care the most..

For your information....my favourite soup is Kimchi soup....i met some nice friends here...one of them is Qing Song Dou..from china..who i always call 大哥..(elder brother in mandarin)..One evening...he made me this mouth watering kimchi soup....i was so touch as i have been longing for it.....after i came to uk....thanks a lot..

Studying abroad is my childhood dream since 10...and i used to wonder what would it feel like and now i got the chance to give it a taste....Well, it is actually very nice...i get to experience autumn and winter ( as in long terms ), meet friends from different coutries...experience cultural shock and the cold weather here...but i do miss home at times....i miss the food in Malaysia..especially my mum's cooking( as i eat pasta almost everyday), i miss my family, miss my friends,i miss the tv programmes that i used to watch...and the weather in Malaysia( sometimes )...
I do like UK...it is a great country with very diverse populations...it is a life time experience for me to pursue my studies...but i wont stay here for long...because i dont have a sense of belonging here...Deep in my heart..there is a place where i call "home", a place where my love ones are staying..a place which provide me shelter...no matter where i am, what am i doing, at the end of the day...i will go home.....home sweet home......

Maslow's Hierarchy of needs...

Hi everyone...long time no see!! I dont really have time to blog lately...Today..i wana talk about people and their needs. According to Abraham Maslow,the hierarchy of needs is depicted as a pyramid consisting of five levels: the first lower level is being associated with Physiological needs, while the top levels are termed growth needs associated with psychological needs. The higher needs in this hierarchy only come into focus when the lower needs in the pyramid are satisfied. Once an individual has moved upwards to the next level, needs in the lower level will no longer be prioritized. If a lower set of needs is no longer being met, the individual will temporarily re-prioritize those needs by focusing attention on the unfulfilled needs, but will not permanently regress to the lower level.

i just want to talk about the third level of the hierarchy,which is the social needs.. Humans need to feel a sense of belonging and acceptance, whether it comes from a large social group,or small social connections.They need to love and be loved (sexually and non-sexually) by others. In the absence of these elements, many people become susceptible to loneliness, social anxiety, and Clinical depression.

No man is an island...we all need a sense of belonging..need to feel attached to an individual or a group..I just want to tell my family and all of my friends...i love you guys so much..without you guys..i am not who i am today..thank you!!

Like i said...went london for my weekend...its nice but i still prefer Reading as the lifestyle in London is hectic and busy....but its nice for sure...joined the city tour organised by St.Georges of University of London...so..got to visit a lot of places...passed by London eye...forgot to take pictures of it..arrrrgggggh..anyway...managed to take others...so..enjoy..

last Friday went to london for the weekend with friends..the journey started from Reading station to london Waterloo and ended in Tooting...we were at the wrong bus in the very beginning so we arrived Tooting late..My friend's sister studies medicine in Tooting so we went to 'tumpang' her place..met some great friends over there...have a really fun weekend..we have birthday party for a friend over there( Xin Loong) and we even played truth or dare...and before that, i never know that i can be that wild in playing games...haha..cheers!!

this moring..i woke up early to make my own breakfast with my friends...which is..tagliatelle with dumpling....hehe..the fusion of western and chinese food...then someone came into the kitchen and saw us eating our meals...she gave us a look and said:'wow...what a heavy meal..!!' Well, i do admit that i eat a lot n i m trying to make my meal as interesting as possible..it actually tasted good.(sounds a bit like Gordon Ramsey) Anyway, we did enjoy our meal...!!

Well, i am not a stranger to living in student hall as i used to stay in Taylors' student hall for two years....But, one thing for sure is, Wessex Hall( the hall i m staying now )is way of better than Taylors student hall!! Before i come to the UK, i heard a lot of people told me that the living expenses in the uk is terribly, horribly and 'vegetably' high....Well, nothing is impossible as there is a saying that 'if there is a will to save, there is a way'...These few days, i went to the town to do some shopping with friends and thought we gonna spend 'a fortune' just to buy some stuff for our daily needs and guess what..we found some stores with great deals...

This is the 99PENCE store located in the town centre. the store sells a great range of stuff from food to shampoos just for 99 pence each!!!

24 sponge cakes for 99 pence..

Besides, Sainsbury is also a must-go for those who wanted to save their pennies...They always have lots of promotion on food and other stuff..
